Okay this is the Breakdown Sheet I made per Daphne’s instructions. It is in a .pdf file. I will add the script with the new correct colors tomorrow or later tonight.
5/4-08
Okay, just finished the meeting. It went really well and it looks like we made some progress. The breakdown script was accepted, but it was decided that I should change the colors so they match the colors on the breakdown sheet (which I will create this week).
We also decided that the date for the audition will be 21-22 of June. We also decided that it would be better to have the audition in Orlando. With gas prices being so high we figured there might not be that many people willing to travel far for an audition and we need as many people as possible to come. The most important thing with this script/film is the actor’s ability to show a lot of emotion close up. He will also most likely be the biggest expense. Definitely looking for a SAG actor.
The target date for the shoot is 1-3 of August. That could of course change, but that’s the goal right now.

Old Wounds break down draft .pdf
Daphne sort of gave me homework to do last Sunday. We started to break down the script and that included adding scene numbers, but also highlight certain parts of the script. That part isn’t really necessary for the short short that we are making, but she wanted me to get used to how it’s done on big productions. I tried to do what she told me and have added the shooting draft here, but I may revise that and add a correct one later should it turn out that I screwed up on this one.
The different items highlighted are for different groups working on a film to easily be able to find their area in a script or scene. We made the colors as follows. It may not be the correct colors, but we went with the highlighter colors we had available.
Actor – yellow
Props – purple
Cars – brown
Animals – pink
Special effects – red
Wardrobe – orange
Set dressing – blue
Sound – green
Btw, our own 26lb Mr. Lister will be playing the tuxedo cat!

Since this is my first film, I will post everything about this short film, everything from beginning to end in case there is someone out there interested in how it’s done. I hope this will turn out okay… at least. My intent was never to spit out “YouTube” type short films. I want to make cinema. Not sure that came across the way I intended. I’m not very good with words. Anyway, keep an eye out on this page as I will update frequently.

[...] I went to a meeting yesterday and it looks like Old Wounds will be the first short to be made. Why? Well, it is short… one person, one location and hardly any expenses needed. We went over the script and started the break down of it. Apparently there’s a little more to it than just writing something then grabbing a camera and start filming. I learned a lot yesterday and will try to share this process of going from script to film and added a page for this under “films in production”. I left it untitled for now. I feel fairly good about this since the people I’m working with have experience working with some well know directors and producers in the past and has imdb listings as Producer and Assistant Director. One woman worked on films like Poltergeist, the original TCM and Caddyshack. We will have another meeting on Saturday. [...]
